ILLUMINATION 2007 in IIT Kharagpur

All the celebrations of Diwali are over. All those moments of joy are now written in our memories. Those good memories of our celebration in the college,we shall be remembering for our whole life. On Diwali, when people are uniting with their families, with their lovers, we kgpians are far away from our home. So, to compensate that, we are here -as a family, enjoying each n every moment with zeal. And ILLUMINATION reflects us. Its the way we celebrate Diwali,the festival of lights. All Halls in Kgp build vertical panels of bamboos, called as chattai, on which some drawings are made using Lamps(diyas). The preparation starts atleast one month before Diwali. So that the feel of enthusiasm don't fade away, it's celebrated in a competitive environment. A panel of judges visits each hall to evaluate the decoration. There are about 25000 thousand diyas which are lit in a short time of about five minutes. All halls strive to achieve the prestigious prize. The night gets more colourful when people living outside the campus visit. Besides that the most remarkable is Rangoli( the design or potrait made on the floor using powdered colours). You will enjoy it the most.
